Seborrheic Eczema; more scalp skin, face, eyebrows, nose edge, cheeks, in the inner and outer parts of the ear, pink colored redness on the areas of yellow oily dandruff as an emerging eczema. They do not cause any harm other than cosmetic appearance.



What is the cause of seborrheic eczema?

Malaszesia, which lives in a harmless way in our skin, is caused by excessive increase in fungal germ and excessive response of skin defense system. It is seen in the community around 5%. However, patients are often unaware of this. It is not related to internal organs and does not show genetic transition.

Is hair related to dandruff?

Dandruff in hair is a mild type of seborrheic eczema and occurs in half of adults. All patients with dandruff do not have seborrheic dermatitis, but most patients with seborrheic dermatitis also have dandruff.

In which cases can the disease increase?

Fatigue and emotional stress can increase the disease. It is more common in winter. In summer, the disease is lighter

Although it varies from patient to patient, especially the nose, cheeks, inner and back part of the ears, eyebrows and scalp are formed by thin white crusts on the red pink ground at the border of the skin. Most patients do not have any symptoms. Sometimes it can appear on the chest, under the armpits. It can be seen in the scalp with dandruff.



How is the diagnosis of the disease made?

The diagnosis is easily made by clinical examination. However, in some cases, an examination may be required to separate from other diseases (especially fungal diseases).



Can the disease be completely cured?

The findings of the disease can be temporarily eliminated with the treatments applied. It is not always possible to be fully cured.



Which drugs are used in the treatment?

The treatment is determined by the body area of ​​the findings.

• Scalp: Here, the findings disappear completely with regular use of anti-dandruff shampoos containing zinc pyrithione, selenium sulfide, ketoconazole. During the application, shampoo should be rinsed for 5-10 minutes on the scalp. Salicylic acid solutions may be helpful in patients with thick dandruff.

• Face, ear and nose around: Anti-fungal creams are recommended to reduce the fungus. In case of redness, cortisone creams are beneficial.

• For the inner part of the ear, cortisone solutions, ear drops are useful.

• Body: When it is in areas such as body, back, armpits, rinsing of those regions with anti-fungal shampoos, rinsing after shaking for 5-10 minutes in this area gives good results
